| About Us I'm a knitter, a step-mom and step-grandmom, and now, business owner. I learned to knit as a teenager, but it didn't really click the first time. Years passed, and in 2002, I started knitting again. This time, it totally changed my life. Really, it did. I fell in love with knitting, and combining that love with my desire to run my own business, I started Great Yarn Company in 2003. At that time, we were living in New Orleans, my home town. Things went well right up until August, 2005, when 80% of New Orleans flooded. Thankfully, we evacuated before the flood, so we were safe, but our home was filled with several feet of water for weeks, and we lost our entire yarn inventory. Don't even ask me about the yuckiness factor... My husband and I decided to make a fresh start in Texas, and settled in League City, which is about halfway between Houston and Galveston. Lots of Tex-Mex food, sunny climate, and plenty of room to spread out -- what's not to love! Texans are so friendly, they made us feel right at home. And knitters? They're all over the place in Texas! Who knew?! We've been very happy here (did I mention Tex-Mex food?), but after two years, I still missed my yarn business, so in 2007, I took a deep breath and re-started Great Yarn Company -- from scratch. I'm very excited to be back - and I'm delighted to hear from so many old friends! If you're new to Great Yarn Company, welcome, please make yourself comfortable and get to know us - we're glad you're here! Happy Knitting, Sue Copyright (c) 2003-2008 by Great Yarn Company.
